The marathon season is truly in full swing in Europe with athletes able to choose from different destinations across the continent this autumn.
Venice and Cyprus have upcoming racing events for runners to challenge their endurance and strength, but if that isn't enough for fitness-fiends then the Lisbon Marathon could be the answer to a complete running season.
In its 21st year, the marathon is well established and takes runners around the sites of the Portuguese capital.
Less confident athletes can attempt the half marathon offered by the organisers, or even the non-competitive eight km trail.
Held on Sunday December 2nd, runners will be harnessing the chance to tone of for Christmas as well as enjoy the sights and sounds of this cosmopolitan hubbub.
The record for the marathon is two hours and 11 minutes for men and two hours and 28 minutes for women.
Athletes may be interested to know that the annual Venice Marathon takes place on October 28th.
