2008 News Archive - Holidays - Canary Islands are 'perfect for half-term'

16 10 2008

Rich in natural beauty and basking in warm weather all year round, the Canary Islands are an ideal half-term holiday destination.

Speaking yesterday (October 15th), Ignacio Vasallo, director of the Spanish Tourist Office, said that Canary Island holidays offered fantastic value for money and were ideal for families seeking an "authentic Spanish experience".

"From the rich natural beauty of northern Tenerife, to the wine routes of north-eastern Gran Canaria, and from the golden beaches of Lazarote to the unspoiled calm of La Gomera and the ancient volcanic landscape of Fuerteventura, increasing numbers of discerning travellers are discovering the magical allure of these islands," he commented.

The Canary Islands were at the forefront of the tourism revolution in the 1960s and 1970s and continue to lead the way today, Mr Vasallo furthered.

In related news, a recent study by Abbey revealed that almost eight million Britons are planning to jet off to European destinations such as the Canary Islands this year.
