2008 News Archive - Holidays - Celebrate in Spain

20 08 2007

Each year visitors to the Catalan region of Spain have the chance to enjoy the unique festivities of Sant Sadurni d'Anoia's Cava Week.

Famed for its wines, the town celebrates its status as Catalonia's largest cava-producing areas by hosting feasts and a series of ceremonies in October to mark the occasion.

Beginning with the crowning of the Queen of Cava and a procession through the streets of the town, visitors are treated to special street performances and songs before taking tours of the town's many wine cellars.

Every year a special train is organised bringing people from Barcelona to participate in the celebrations, with passengers receiving glasses of cava and enjoying performances from local musicians.

While in Barcelona, holidaymakers can take in its many historical and architectural attractions, including Gaudi's Sagrada Familia, enjoy the bustling La Rambla district or relax on the city's sandy beaches.
