2008 News Archive - Holidays - 'Cheaper' to marry abroad

31 08 2007

Couples who are considering where they should go on their romantic honeymoon may want to stop to consider the benefits of marrying abroad as well.

According to an expert in the area, financial reasons are one of the main reasons couples decide to tie the knot in a foreign country. WeddingsAbroad.com claim the average cost of exchanging vows in the UK is £18,000.

Spokesperson for Ron Cropper comments that a bride or groom with divorced parents may also benefit from a wedding in an exotic location.

"It makes things easier if the wedding is less traditional," he remarks.

Furthermore, not all couples will marry and honeymoon in the same country, Mr Cropper adds, exemplifying newlyweds who married in Mauritius and honeymooned in South Africa.

For those visiting South Africa in September, Whatsonwhen notes that the Simon's Town Penguin Festival is likely to provide a fun-filled day of celebrations of the black and white birds.
