2008 News Archive - Holidays - Diving holidays are "increasingly" popular

25 01 2008

The number of holidaymakers taking trips to places like the Maldives and Mexico to enjoy a spot of diving is on the rise, it has been reported.

According to STA Travel, it is "increasingly popular" for Britons to take diving and skiing holidays abroad, while accessibility to such holidays has also improved.

A company spokesperson added that holidaymakers should know that adventure holidays involve more risk than regular holidays and this could impact upon their travel insurance.

"Any adventure holiday is just that, an adventure, this means doing something out of the original or off the beaten track," she commented.

The spokesperson added that such services that could require travel insurance cover include search and rescue operations and on a diving holiday most likely coastguard rescue services.

In particular, the spokeswoman highlighted the possible need for costly de-compression tanks, if holidaymakers get into trouble on a diving holiday.
