The United Arab Emirates' city of Dubai could be the ideal destination for tourists looking for to take a luxury short haul trip this summer.
Figures from research consultancy Mintel show that more people are taking overseas city holidays and therefore maximising their time away from the workplace while enjoying some of the world's top resorts.
The city is the second largest of the seven United Arab Emirates and is just a seven-hour flight from London.
"Dubai is becoming the city-break destination of choice, particularly for couples seeking an alternative to more traditional destinations such as New York and Paris," Ian Scott, director of the UK and Ireland representative office of Dubai Tourism and Commerce Marketing, told AME Info.
He added that the city appeals to all forms of travellers especially as it offers visitors "excellent luxury hotels, fantastic world-class facilities, the ultimate shopping experience, fine dining at internationally-renowned restaurants and sensual spa treatments".
A number of new development projects are set to continue to transform Dubai into a major destination for holidays including hi-tech hotels and large-scale shopping malls.
