Dubai is increasingly becoming a hotspot for the world's leading brand names, according to an industry spokesman.

The emirate boasts designer outlets like Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, Versace and Gucci among others, as well as familiar UK high street shops like Boots and Debenhams, the Dubai department of tourism and commerce marketing (DTCM) has said.

But it is not just shopaholics who will be delighted by the big brands on display in Dubai - those with a taste for fine food can revel in the choice of big name restaurants available as Gordon Ramsay and Gary Rhodes are set to open branches of their popular eateries in the emirate.

Meanwhile Universal Studios and Legoland are set to open theme parks and Tiger Woods, Ernie Els and Colin Montgomerie have all designed courses for Dubai golf clubs.

Ian Scott, the DCTM's director for the UK and Ireland, said: "Dubai continues to witness a year-on-year increase in visitor figures.

"Interest and investment in Dubai continues to grow and more brands see the rewards of establishing themselves in the emirate."

This latest news follows the announcement that the world's biggest mall has opened its doors in Dubai, making the winter sun destination even more attractive for shoppers.
