A new report on the world's sexiest beaches has concluded that seven can be found in Europe.
Compiled by Forbes Traveler, the report is based on the thoughts of a range of experts in the field and it indicates that "sensuality, sassiness and scenic beauty" can be found on beaches throughout the world.
Found on northern Italy's Ligurian Sea, Monterosso al Mare is seen as one of Europe's sexiest beaches, and it certainly takes pride of place within "the achingly romantic" Cinque Terre.
The Forbes Traveler report also highlights Nissi Beach in Cyprus, which is described as "a stunning sanctuary protected by a cove on the island's east end". Nissi has been known to attract numerous A-list celebrities, who doubtlessly flock to enjoy the crystal clear waters and trendy bars and restaurants.
Paradise Beach, on Greece's Mykonos Island, has also made the grade, and this beach is reportedly popular with partygoers who enjoy sleeping off the hangover in the afternoon.
This is perhaps also true of Ibiza's Playa d'en Bossa, whereas Sardinia's Pula Beach is very much a classy affair notable for its "flashing white sands".
Red Beach, found on the Greek island of Santorini, has made the sexy list because of its "striking blend of colours". The imposing red lava cliffs certainly make for an impressive backdrop and sunbathers have long enjoyed relaxing on the beach's gloriously fine sands.
Inevitably, perhaps, Tahiti Beach in Saint-Tropez is also considered to be one of the sexiest beaches in the world. Saint-Tropez is very much the choice of the rich and the famous and with its fashion shows on the beach, it is hardly surprising it has qualified for the sexy list.
Non-European beaches to make the list include Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, Byron Bay in New South Wales and Lhaviyani Atoll in the Maldives.
