2008 News Archive - Holidays - Family adventures abroad

15 08 2007

Families are increasingly going abroad for the holiday of a lifetime, an expert has said.

Parents are trying to make their holidays more adventurous for themselves as well as their kids, with Spain and Italy the most popular destinations.

Managing director of Take the Family Lucy Ace commented that many people may have been disappointed with the British weather this year and have decided to make a last minute decision to go abroad.

"With smaller children a warm sandy beach will keep them entertained for hours, mix that with the child-friendly cultures of Italy or Spain and you have a winning formula," she said.

She adds that the far east and Egypt are seeing young families arrive for a more unusual holiday experience.

Ms Ace advises those travelling with preschool kids to avoid busy periods of the year when they weather is likely to be cooler and travelling to destinations slightly easier.

Mothercare and Mother & Baby magazine recently found that many families find holidaying in the UK too expensive.
