Visitors to Miami in the New Year will get a great chance to soak up some rays and enjoy the famous Gulf Coast beaches, far away from the dark, cold, wind and (occasional) snow of back home.
But even if the fine climate, palm trees, azure waters and exciting nightlife of a vibrant city with a distinct Latin flavour should be enough for most, there is more.
Every first Friday of the month is Fabulous First Friday at the Miami Science Museum, with the institution's programme pencilling in January 4th as the day when a special talk will take place about the health and welfare of Dolphins.
The museum also offers a chance for all the family to enjoy learning about science related subjects, with plenty of dinosaur skeletons to capture the imagination and opportunities to discover more about everything from biology to outer space.
