2008 News Archive - Holidays - Footballer aims to get his money's worth in Majorca

08 05 2008

One footballer will be working harder than most to get his money's worth out of his forthcoming end of season break in Majorca.

Paul Vines is heading with the rest of the Tooting and Mitcham FC squad for a package holiday in Magaluf.

The club pays for its end-of-season holidays by fining the players each time they are booked or sent off. Vines has contributed more than £100 to the coffers thanks to his poor disciplinary record, the Epsom guardian reports.

While his teammates will not have thanked him at the time, they will no doubt appreciate Vines' lack of control when they arrive on Magaluf's golden beaches.

For his own part, the striker was apologetic but also looking forward to his break, saying: "That money goes to the trip to Spain, so I think I have paid my way."

Footballers from the Ryman Premier League to the Barclays Premier League enjoy holidays in Majorca. It was recently reported that Cristiano Ronaldo had met his current girlfriend on the island.
