2008 News Archive - Holidays - Fuerteventura is a 'great winter sun destination'

13 11 2008

A UK travel writer has said that Fuerteventura is "a fab place to soak up the sun in December".

Writing in the Daily Mirror, Gill Williams ranked the Island as one of her top 15 winter sun destinations.

Ms Williams recommended picnicking in the Dunes National Park and having a look at the Lobos Island nature reserve.

She said that a holiday to Fuerteventura, which is near Africa's Atlantic coast, could enable tourists to "relax after a day on the beach with a lazy soak in the oriental hammam".

As the UK gears up for what could be a chilly Christmas, tourists visiting Fuerteventura can look forward to average temperatures of 20 degrees C in December.

This latest recommendation follows that of weatherman Michael Fish, who wrote in the Guardian that the climate in the Canaries made the Islands one of his top six winter sun destinations.
