2008 News Archive - Holidays - 'Further boost' for Kenyan tourism

29 04 2008

Kenya is set to receive another shot in the arm in terms of tourism next month when it receives a visit from secretary general of United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) Francesco Frangialli.

According to AllAfrica.com, Business Daily reports Mr Frangialli will visit for two days as part of UNWTO's Supporting Africa's Tourism Recovery tour.

UNWTO has stated that Kenya is a "major tourist destination" in Africa with much more potential still to be released.

"[The visit] is an opportunity for international tourists to experience the famed wildlife and coastal attractions available," an UNWTO statement reported.

Leaders and celebrities are expected to take part in a publicised photo at Masai Mara as part of the campaign.

Other recent high-profile visitors to Kenya included British supermodel Naomi Campbell, who travelled to the country on holiday in Easter.
