2008 News Archive - Holidays - Gambia offers "luxury" holidays

04 01 2008

Travellers can expect a "luxury" experience when holidaying in the Gambia, it has been reported.

According to Wales on Sunday, the country is becoming an increasingly popular tourist destination for a number of reasons.

The publication reports that there is no jet lag for tourists, as the UK shares the Gambia's time zone, and the country boasts a tropical climate.

The Gambia is known as the Smiling Coast of Africa and it has a rich culture and linguistic tapestry made up of people speaking Mandinka, Wollof, Fula, Jola, Sarahule, Serere, Manjango and Creole.

Holidaymakers can pass their time in the Gambia getting to know the 560 different species of bird that are native to the region, fishing in the magnificent River Gambia or, if they visit in June, attending the annual Roots International Festival.
