A seaside location is the venue for the Festival Isladencanta or "island that sings" festival that takes place in July in the capital, Palma de Mallorca.
This annual summer event, now in its sixth year, boasts a line-up of top bands and DJs and takes place only ten minutes from the beach.
It has two stages, a chill-out area, a large tent hosting audio-visual events and exhibitions, a swimming pool and a late-night tent with DJs.
In 2003, the festival was relocated from the tourist resort of Calvia to Palma de Mallorca.
The event was cancelled in 2004 and was resurrected in 2005.
Palma has a fashionable reputation as a lively and sophisticated place and is the largest city in the Balearics with a rich history and enjoys about 300 sunny days a year.
Bands that have played at the festival previously include Iggy Pop and the Stooges, Primal Scream and Oasis.
