2008 News Archive - Holidays - Gordon Ramsay rates the Maldives for romance

31 12 2008

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has said he enjoys holidaying in the Maldives because of the romantic atmosphere of the islands.

In an interview with the Telegraph, Ramsay said that while he enjoys spending quality time with the family, every now and then a romantic break to the Maldives with his wife Tana is what’s needed.

Ramsay who has set up a string of restaurants following the success of his TV shows, said: "Once a year, my mother-in-law moves in and Tana and I sneak off for a week to somewhere such as Reethi Rah in the Maldives to become boyfriend and girlfriend again."

The Maldives has long enjoyed a reputation as a haven for honeymooning couples.

White sandy beaches, hot weather and crystal clear Indian Ocean waters have helped turn these remote islands into a romantic hotspot.

But it need not be all about couples and children are very welcome on the islands, as Marc Padgett, a travel writer for the Independent, recently discovered when his young son on holiday with him.
