The International Gourmet Fair is coming to Spain this year and promises to be a festival for the eyes, ears and especially the taste buds.
To take place in the Pabellon de Cristal in Madrid, the fair will run from April 16th to the 19th and will features 700 exhibitors from all over Spain, the Mediterranean and the world.
The opening day of the fair will be marked by the prestigious National Ham Carving Contest, which will see the best carvers from the Iberian Penninsula go head-to-head for a cash prize and a trophy diploma.
Carvers will be judged on speed, style, agility, thickness of cut, inventiveness and appearance of the finished cut.
Another highlight of the fair will be a cook-off sponsored by the Association of Young Restaurateurs, where some of the regions top chefs will have six hours to prepare a see bass dish and three dishes of their choice.
Visitors to Spain who are a fan of the country's cuisine will definitely not want to miss this event, as it also features over 35,000 Spanish delicatessen products, from chorizo sausage to an assortment of olives.
