2008 News Archive - Holidays - Gran Balon Market - a bargain hunters dream

10 05 2007

If you like going after a bargain, then the Gran Balon Market at the Piazza della Repubblica in Turin is definitely for you.

To take place on May 13th, the market draws antique dealers from all over Europe to sell their wares to eager browsers.

Everything is on offer, from fine furniture to cutlery and even car parts. And the piazza itself is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful in Italy.

And when one has gotten tired of bargain hunting, there are the delights of Turin waiting to be sampled.

The Palatine Towers are one of the most famous pieces of architecture in the world and should not be missed by visitors.

And the Cathedral of St John the Baptist is the home of the famous Shroud of Turin, believed to have covered Jesus.

There is also the Museo Egizio, which houses the largest collection of Egyptian antiquities in the world outside the Cairo Museum.
