Bulgaria is looking to carve a name for itself in the health tourism industry, Visit Bulgaria reports.
The organisation reports that a working group has been organised by the ministry of health care in order to develop a strategy to help develop the country as a destination for health tourism.
Chanko Chalakov, head of the national complex' specialised hospitals for rehabilitation department in Varna announced his intention to negotiate with the coordinator section of the German health fund to help develop this sector.
It was recently reported by Post Office that the health tourism industry is growing at a rate of in the region of 30 per cent per annum.
In 2007, in excess of 70,000 people travelled abroad in order to have cosmetic or elective surgery.
Visit Bulgaria notes that health tourism revenues across the globe are anticipates to touch the $100 billion (£50 billion) mark by 2010.
