2008 News Archive - Holidays - Holiday romances 'lead to weddings'

22 08 2008

Britons looking for love have been advised to take a holiday, after new research revealed that one-in-ten overseas flings end in romance.

According to new research, over a third of Brits have enjoyed a holiday romance, with those aged over 60 the most likely to find love.

The study, carried out by moneysupermarket.com, found that Londoners in particular were partial to a holiday fling, while holidaymakers from East Anglia are the best at turning love into marriage.

Peter Gerrard, a spokesman for the site, commented: "For all those looking for fun and love in the sun, the chances of a holiday romance look pretty good.
"It seems the over sixties are hopeless romantics and it's great to know that you are never too old to find love."

Mr Gerrard also revealed that Paris and Majorca are the world's top romance hotspots, with Barcelona, Rome and Tenerife also popular with holidaymakers looking for love.

Meanwhile, a recent report published by ebookers.com revealed that over half of Britons view holidays as an essential expenditure.
