2008 News Archive - Holidays - Holiday websites 'are cheaper'

25 07 2007

Holiday websites are convenient for consumers and have the "best technology in the business", an industry expert has claimed.

Online travel agents give consumers more choice and can help prospective holidaymakers to compare prices, states managing director of Global Holidays David Brice. He comments that "it is cheaper to buy online and you get more choice and you can compare prices".

Mr Brice suggests that sometimes convenience is the overriding factor for consumers and technology is not as good on the high street.

High street travel agents still offer good deals, he adds, but websites are more user-friendly.

Furthermore Mr Brice is adamant that the package holiday has not died saying: "There are still more package holidays sold than anything else. It's just so convenient."

Teletext Holidays recently reported its busiest day of the year so far as it recorded 106,000 hits on its website in 24 hours, indicating Brits are becoming keener on buying holidays over the internet.
