2008 News Archive - Holidays - Holidaymakers should "call before they fly"
10 08 2007
Holidaymakers are being advised to call their mobile phone operators before they travel abroad this summer, as they could benefit from cheaper roaming charges.
Next month mobile phone customers who are jetting off for a holiday in the sun could pay 69 per cent less to make calls from a foreign country and up to 90 per cent less to receive calls.
Head of communications services at uSwitch.com Steve Weller comments: "Consumers should be mindful that operators may not go the extra mile to advertise the new deals for the time being as they will be keen to reap the benefits of the existing roaming charges incurred by this summers late holidaymakers."
All customers should have received information from their service providers about the new Eurotariffs, but Mr Weller adds that customers should "call before they fly".
A free, impartial online and telephone-based comparison and switching service, uSwitch.com is recommending the 3 network as a holidaymaker's best chance at getting bargain holiday calls.
