2008 News Archive - Holidays - Italian hotel rated best in Europe

05 02 2009

A hotel in Tuscany has been chosen as the best place to stay in the whole of Europe by a leading travel guide.

Conde Nast Johansens, a travel guide publisher, awarded the Relais la Suvera (Dimora Storica) hotel in Italy its coveted title of most excellent hotel in Europe for 2009.

The guide's team of independent experts visits every hotel listed and rates them on the basis of quality, excellence of service and value for money.

Conde Nast Johansens described the Italian hotel's room as "exquisite". It added: "Created in 1989 by the Marchess Ricci and his wife Principessa Eleonora Massimo, this luxurious hotel is composed of 4 ravishing houses surrounding a romantic courtyard."

Italy has long enjoyed a reputation as one of the most romantic countries in the world and is a favourite with young couples heading off on their honeymoons. Shakespeare chose to set Romeo and Juliet, often cited as the world's most famous love story, in the country.
