2008 News Archive - Holidays - Jamaica 'gets Jazzy'

09 12 2008

Tourists looking to beat the post-Christmas blues in the UK might want to consider jazzing up their January with a visit to the Jamaican Jazz and Blues festival, which has just announced a new sponsor.

Jamaica Tourist Board has announced that it will be stepping in to help pay for the event, which takes place on January 22nd-24th next year.

The festival, which will take place at the historic aqueduct in Montego Bay, will feature A-listers from across the musical spectrum including soul from Lionel Richie, R&B from Estelle and reggae from the legendary Maxi Priest.

Elizabeth Fox, director of Jamaica Tourist Board for the UK, said: "Music is one of Jamaica's greatest cultural exports and we are honoured to have the festival […] more closely associated with our unique culture and heritage."

Recently, Jamaica Tourist Board announced that visitor figures had risen by three per cent for the first six months of this year, despite the credit crunch.
