2008 News Archive - Holidays - January 'the time to book cheap holidays'
27 12 2007
Booking a holiday in January to most destinations can allow consumers to get some great deals, according to the Association of British Travel Agents (Abta).
Frances Tuke, a spokesperson for Abta, said that for most places - excluding the Caribbean - early January bookings are a time when tourists can really get cheap holidays.
"You've got the peak weeks over Christmas and New Year, and then if you look in the brochures for January, it's probably one of the cheapest weeks of the year to go on holiday," Ms Tuke said.
However, Ms Tuke suggested that some places are affected by the "off-season slump", offering that some places are more difficult to get to due to a lack of chartered flights.
A spokesperson for BAA Stansted airport supported this idea from Apta of cheap holidays being available in the early part of the new year, suggesting that holidays to the US are also cheaper in January.
