Jazz-lovers should head off to the South African city of Johannesburg at the end of August to sample the musical delights of the Standard Bank Joy of Jazz festival.
Held on August 23rd to 25th, the event is in its eighth year and along with the usual line-up of African artists an American big band will add to the success of the jazz celebrations.
Miriam Makeba, Stanley Clarke and George Duke are among some of the artists performing at this year's event, while UK artist Jamie Cullum entertained last year's crowd.
Food and merchandise will help provide a fun-packed time for guests to the festival and for those short of money, free events are also held.
The Joy of Jazz festival is recommended for the more hands-on music lovers, as a number of workshops are held by guests performing at the festival.
Another event held in the country at the end of August is the Pretoria Show, Whatsonwhen reports. The agricultural show promises to be a family-friendly fun-filled event.
