Holidays may be a time for relaxation and reflection for some, but not for everyone as the more adventurous Brits crave activities which push them to their limits as a way to enjoy a long-awaited getaway.
If holidays aren't just a reason to lay by the pool, holidaymakers may find Cyprus provides the perfect place to enjoy a marathon this autumn, just in time to look tip-top for Christmas.
The Cyprus Health Runners Club is holding its annual Aphrodite Half Marathon on November 25th starting in Paphos, a popular holiday resort by the sea.
Running enthusiasts may enjoy the Cypriot surroundings as they power round the half-marathon on the island, but if a half marathon seems like too much, there is also a five kilometre fun run for those less able to hack the pace.
Cash prices are available for the first six men and first three women to complete the race, which could help fund a celebratory night out and enjoyable activities for the rest of the holiday.
For lovers of racing of a different kind, the Cyprus Derby Cup is also held in November.
