2008 News Archive - Holidays - Lakeside luxuries in Italy

10 09 2007

The shores of Lake Garda provide a relaxing setting for any stressed-out Brit, with breathtaking mountain scenery surrounding idyllic Italian villages creating a picturesque backdrop.

Yet some holidaymakers may feel a glass of wine wouldn't go amiss in such a setting, which is what's on the cards for those visiting this year's Bardolino Wine Festival, Whatsonwhen reports.

Famed for its production of juicy red grapes, this lakeside town will lay on its usual festivities of wine tasting and food stalls.

Visitors to event may want to stay well into the evening, as classical musical concerts are held at 9.30 each night and a firework extravaganza finale will light up the night sky.

Lake Garda is situated at the foot of the Italian Alps, not far from the famous historical city of Venice and fashion capital Milan.

Romance fans may enjoy a trip to nearby Verona to see the supposed balcony of William Shakespeare's ill-fated lover Juliet.
