2008 News Archive - Holidays - Magaluf - plenty of Brits, very few Germans this summer?

05 06 2008

German newspapers have bitten back after news emerged of a British tourist receiving compensation for there being 'too many Germans' in his hotel.

Publications in the country have suggested that Germans too might want to go out of their way to avoid Brits on holiday.

For example, Bild gave a list of six resorts in Majorca which its countrymen should not visit if they do not want to bump any UK tourists.

Among the resorts mentioned were Magaluf and Puerto Pollensa. On the former, the newspaper advised: "Germans booking there will need to have an understanding of the very special British humour and drinking habits."

Magaluf has a reputation of being one of Europe's most vibrant holiday and party destinations, catering for short breaks as well as longer stays.

The main strip contains countless bars and nightclubs, offering everything from cheap cocktails to foam parties.
