2008 News Archive - Holidays - Magical festive Greece

11 10 2007

Athens is often thought of as a place worth visiting for its historic monuments and ancient architecture, but in December an event is held that may be more exciting for children than adults.

Santa's neighbourhood is a firm tradition in the Greek capital, with stalls upon stalls of tasty sweets and pastries helping to bring forth the magic of Christmas.

Held between December 14th and January 7th, kids should go wild for this magical winter wonderland.

Furthermore, excitable youngsters will get the chance to visit Santa's home and help his elves prepare toys for all the good little girls and boys around the world.

A unique attraction at this year's event will be an 80-seat carousel dating from 1886. What could be more romantic than enjoying an antique carousel ride on a holiday of a lifetime in the run up to Christmas?

Athens is thought to be one of the world's oldest cities, with records showing its existence 3,000 years ago.
