2008 News Archive - Holidays - Majorca attracts 'most UK visitors in 2008'

31 12 2007

The Balearic Island of Majorca has attracted the most UK holidaymakers in 2007, it has been reported.

According to Your Menorca, the island beat off competition from regions such as Eastern Europe, while Menorca itself also reported an increase in visitor numbers.

Furthermore, Your Menorca added that the group of islands each attracts a different type of clientele in spite of their close proximity to each other.

It is claimed that Menorca is regarded as the quietest of the three holiday islands and family orientated while Majorca has a "cosmopolitan feel" and attracts older holidaymakers.

By contrast, it reports that Ibiza is known for its nightlife and attracts 18 to 30 year-olds with "high disposable incomes" and that visitors spend more on holidays to the clubbing capital than when travelling to Majorca and Menorca.

According to Independent.ie, travel agents have reported strong sales for holidays in summer 2008 as travellers look to enjoy the holidays in hot climates.
