2008 News Archive - Holidays - Majorca hotel rated among world's best
28 01 2009
A hotel in Majorca has been rated as one of the best in the world by Forbes Traveler magazine.
Majorca has long been a popular destination for families looking for a dose of winter sun at reasonable prices, but the island also caters for the luxury end of the market, as La Residencia's inclusion in the magazine's top 400 world hotels indicates.
The world's best hotels are not ranked in any order by Forbes but are considered to be the "absolute best" in the world, as judged by a team of independent travel writers who rate them on criteria such as service, location and decor.
Forbes Traveler magazine said that "instead of being overrun by flash, the [La Residencia] complex that wends across 30 acres of olive and citrus groves retains a sleepy, small-village feel".
Majorca as a whole is well known as a destination for the rich and famous - tennis player Rafael Nadal is regularly spotted holidaying on the island and actress Gwenyth Paltrow was recently seen enjoying local food there - but it also maintains a proud sense of its traditions.
