2008 News Archive - Holidays - Malta 'climbing the popularity ladder'

20 12 2007

Malta is reportedly climbing the popularity ladder in terms of its attraction as a holiday destination.

According to Holiday Lettings, the location now attracts families over the school holiday periods.

The island nation must compete with the established summer holiday getaways of Spain, France and Italy, however, which the company notes are "still" the most popular destinations for holidaymakers during the school break.

Meanwhile, the Association of British Travel Agents (Abta) has asserted that 2008 will be "another great year to travel".

Regions which it predicts will be popular in 2008 include Colombia, China, the Alps and Singapore.

Abta also notes that cruising was popular in 2007 and is likely to continue this trend in 2008.
