Those whose idea of relaxation is to sit back and watch someone else expending lots of energy could find just the thing in February on the beautiful Mediterranean island of Malta.
Held on February 24th 2008, the Malta Marathon will offer visitors a tantalising choice of vantage points, beginning at the old capital city of Mdina, close to the highest point of the island, where the panorama is spectacular and the runners can assure themselves that it will be downhill at least most of the way.
For those who would prefer to see the climax of the race, the end comes at the seaside resort of Sleima on the east coast, close to the capital, Valetta.
In between, the course winds through some outstanding countryside, meaning that spectators who fancy combining a sight of the race with some sightseeing will be well rewarded.
Alternatively, those in Sliema will be able to enjoy the many historic buildings and entertainments of Valetta.
