2008 News Archive - Holidays - Mazatlan Carnival in Mexico

22 01 2009

Tourists visiting Mexico in February may be able to enjoy the celebration of the Mazatlan Carnival.

According to Whatsonwhen, the annual event will be taking place between February 19th and 24th and will feature a "fantastically colourful parade" which will make their way along the Avenida del Mar seafront.

Spectators will then be able to see the always popular crowning of the King of Happiness and the Carnival Queen.

Both titles are highly revered in the city and preparations for the coronation will have started months in advance.

As might be expected, Mexico is host to many festivals and parades throughout the year.

Gay and lesbian travellers may be interested to know that the annual Mexico City Pride will take place in June this year.

Meanwhile, the Cancun Carnival takes place in February and will see three weeks of parties, concert performances and exhibitions.
