2008 News Archive - Holidays - Merriment of Miami Carnival on its way

18 04 2007

As one of the largest street festivals in the US, the Miami Carnival is a must for any lovers of excess.

Though dates for this year's revelry have yet to be announced, the carnival usually takes place during the sun-gilded month of September.

Miami, never a city afraid of a party, usually gets things underway in the two weeks running up to the actual event.

The Mini Carnival and Jump-up Parade on Key Biscayne will be a wonderland of DJs, local celebrities, bands, dancing and a mini-parade featuring a dazzling array of costumes and colour.

And of course there will be plenty of Caribbean food available and plenty of alcoholic beverages.

When the time comes for the Miami Carnival itself comes, most will be looking forward to highlight of the event, which is the carnival parade through Bicentennial Park.

This will feature some of the area's premier Soca stars and DJs.

Miami is sometimes called The Gateway of the Americas.
