Mexico has been named as an ideal location for families and couples seeking sun and sand this summer, according to the Sun.
The newspaper has named the North American country as a popular alternative to an all-inclusive holiday in Turkey, particularly in the large beaches of Cozumel.
Guests in the region will be able to enjoy a number of watersports activites, including boat rides, scuba diving and snorkelling in the Palancar coral reef, which is the second-largest of its kind on the world.
The Times has also named Mexico as a top destination for travellers searching for tropical beaches during 2008.
It recommended the natural pools and spas near Playa del Carmen, stating that the atmosphere of the Mayan Riviera may be ideal for people seeking an all-inclusive luxury holiday.
Other destinations named by the newspapers as top picks for a vacation in the summer sun include a romantic holiday for two in Venice, Italy and a rural villa or farm holiday on Mallorca.
