With the rain continuing to pour down in Britain, millions of people are expected to escape to warmer climes and enjoy the bank holiday weekend abroad.
The Association of British Travel Agents (Abta) has estimated that up to two million Britons will leave the country this weekend, with a majority heading to popular destinations such as the Balearic Islands, Greece, Turkey and Cyprus.
Justin Fleming Abta president said: "The August bank holiday is our traditional goodbye to the summer and is always very busy.
"This year is no exception with large numbers escaping to guaranteed sunshine, sandy beaches and warm seas."
Friday and Saturday will be the busiest days, with 420,000 holidaymakers set to travel through Heathrow and 260,000 expected to leave Gatwick.
Meanwhile, a recent report by Cater Allen Private Bank revealed that many Britons use their holidays as a form of therapy, with 43 per cent of people claiming that they need regular trips abroad to "maintain their mental well-being".
