2008 News Archive - Holidays - Moroccan film fest

03 09 2007

Film fans with a taste for exotic locations may want to venture to the Morocco to discover the hidden treasures of Marrakech as it holds its annual film festival later this autumn.

In its seventh year, the Foundation of the International Festival of Film in Marrakech will be held from November 30th and December 8th.

Film buffs will surely be enthralled at the event if last year's programme of entertainment is anything to go by. Legendary filmmaker Roman Polanski - perhaps most well known for the controversial film Rosemary's Baby - featured on the judging panel in 2006.

The German film Der Rote Kakadoo or The Red Cockatoo picked up the coveted Gold Star award last year in the African nation, with Polanski commenting that the judges wanted to pick a film that was "true" and a reminder to nations of "painful" times in their history.

If some holidaymakers are unable to visit Morocco at the time of the festival, other upcoming events in the country include the annual Date Feast in Erfoud this October. This occasion celebrates the country's obsession with the sugary fruit, Whatsonwhen notes.
