2008 News Archive - Holidays - Must-sea Malta

13 09 2007

Malta offers holidaymakers a chance to relax and enjoy their much appreciated getaway time, yet it also provides a variety of exciting activities for visitors to see and do.

October may not be a summer month but it is no exception to this general rule as many graceful and speedy boats take to the seas and compete for glory in the Rolex Middle Sea Race.

The number of competitive craft is likely to top 68 and features expertly designed boats such as the Maxis, Mistress Quickly, Zephyrus IV and Sagamore.

Sir Francis Chichester has competed in this prestigious event in the past, surely making this an unmissable event, even for hardened land-lovers.

The course is 607 miles long and starts from Marsamxett Harbour, Valletta, although spectators may not want to watch the entire length of the race as it the course record was set by Zephyrus IV in 2000 and is 64 hours, 49 minutes and 57 seconds.

Malta is a small island located in the Mediterranean Sea.
