Montenegro's Podgorica has been revealed as one of the best places to visit next year by the Lonely Planet franchise.
Such an appearance by the city on the 30 must-visit destinations list was met with acclaim by the ministry of tourism in the country, which said it was down to a great tourism policy, notes Balkan investigative reporting network.
A number of campaigns in the media such as on the Travel Channel and CNN have led to Montenegro becoming an attractive proposition to those from a growingly diverse array of places across Europe and the rest of the world, something that may interest those looking for a good holiday destination.
"This recommendation is a result of the Montenegrin government's well considered tourism policy, the countrys dynamic tourist development and its intensive promotional activities," a statement from the ministry claimed.
Additionally, the organisation noted that five million people visit the Lonely Planet website each month.
Podgorica is the capital of Montenegro and has a population of over 130,000, according to the 2003 census.
