The Algarve's status as a leading holiday destination in winter as well as in summer has been confirmed by the launching of three new flights to the region by Ryanair.
Tourists will now be able to fly directly from Glasgow, Nottingham and Liverpool airports to Faro all year round.
The new routes will enable more visitors to enjoy the delights of the Algarve away from the hustle and bustle of the crowded peak season.
Antonio Pina, president of the Algarve Promotion Bureau, welcomed the new flights saying he was "delighted" that Ryanair had chosen to add to its existing routes from Stansted, Dublin and Shannon.
He said: "We are positive that these routes will not only draw in crowds for the summer period, but highlight the appeal of the region during the non-summer months."
Masterchef presenter and judge Jean Torode recently told the Guardian that the Algarve was the site of his favourite restaurant - just one example of the delights the region has to offer all year round.
