While the doom and gloom of the credit crunch might be dominating headlines in the UK, the sunny Greek island of Rhodes has some brighter news to report - four new luxury hotels will be opening on the island next year.
Rhodes tourism board announced that next spring will see the opening of the Atrium Prestige Thalasso Spa Resort and the Elysium Resort and Spa - named after the mythological paradise where ancient Greek heroes went after they died.
The Port Royal Villas and the Spa La Marquise Luxury Resort Complex are also both due to open before next summer, which suggests that the island's tourist industry is expecting the numbers of luxury-seeking holidaymakers to grow, despite the credit crunch.
Rhodes is the largest island in the Dodecanese group off the coast of Turkey and in ancient times was famous for the Colossus, a huge statue that was one of the original seven Wonders of the World.
