02 02 2007
Fresh from her starring role in global hit Volver, Hollywood beauty Penelope Cruz has agreed to work with Woody Allen on his next major project.
Cruz will join the cult director in Barcelona for a summer of filming for a comedy-drama that has so far remained nameless.
Fox News has reported that the Spanish-born actress will speak both English and Spanish in the film and critics are already eagerly awaiting the completion of the promising union.
Barcelona, Spain's second-largest city, will provide the perfect backdrop for the film, wwith its incredible Gothic quarter that boasts the Episcopal Palace and the Palau de la Generalitat.
The cosmopolitan city also houses a number of masterpieces by the great Antoni Gaudi, many of which may appeal to Allen's post-modern tendencies.
The city is in fact full of outstanding museums and galleries and the architecture on show is truly breathtaking. Football fans should also pay a visit to the Nou Camp, one of the world's most imaginative and impressive stadia.
Beach lovers will not feel left out either, as the coastline to Tarragona is genuinely beautiful. Nearby Salou is similarly impressive, with several great beaches and rocky coves.
A trip to the sensational PortAventura theme park is also a must for families with children, as its white-knuckle roller-coasters are as impressive as any in the country.
