2008 News Archive - Holidays - 'Posh' Portugal and Zante favoured by Brits
03 07 2008
Portugal and Zante are among the trendier holiday destinations according to a survey of 4,000 Britons.
The Boots poll revealed that Portugal is the third "holiday hot spot" for bragging Brits, beaten to the top spot only by Paris and New York in the respective positions of first and second.
Zante, meanwhile, placed eighth in the study, after Mexico in seventh place and was followed by Morocco in tenth spot.
Purveyor of the study, pharmacist Angela Chalmers, drew attention to the fact that irrespective of the destination, holidaymakers must always take health precautions.
"Travellers' diarrhoea is one of the more embarrassing health problems that can affect holidaymakers and as the majority of people only have one main holiday a year, you want to ensure it is memorable for the right reasons," she commented.
Her comments come after Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain reported that an estimated eight out of ten travellers become poorly on overseas holidays.
