2008 News Archive - Holidays - Prepare for Egypt's first Belly Dancing World Cup

06 06 2007

The resort of Domino Coral Bay in Egypt is to play host to the country's first Belly Dancing World Cup from December 15th to the 21st this year.

Belly dancers from all over the world will flock to the event, called the Alf Leila We Leila Festival, to compete for the title of the world's best.

The art of belly dancing concentrates on isolating different parts of the body, such as the hips, pelvis, arms, hands and head and moving them in slow, seductive patterns in time to music.

And while Europe languishes in the depths of winter, the weather in Egypt will be sunny and warm, explaining why in the past decade or so the country has become a popular tourist destination.

Egypt now boasts many resort towns, the most predominant being Sharm el Sheikh, situated on the southern tip of the Sinai Penninsula on the beautiful Red Sea.
