2008 News Archive - Holidays - Retire in sunny Spain

05 09 2007

Although this summer was a complete wash out for everyone, there are some of us who will have endured the bitter disappointment of British summers for over 60 years.

If so, such retirees may be considering a move abroad to spend their twilight years immersed in warm sunshine while perhaps playing golf on one of Portugal's popular courses.

In doing so, retirees will be in good company as according to an expert in the foreign property market, Spain, Italy, Cyprus and Portugal are all good destinations to enjoy life after years of working.

Director of The Global Property Group Mike Dunkerley comments: "Italy in the south around Calabria is going to be popular - it is the lifestyle."

Mr Dunkerley also notes that Spain is the most popular with retired Brits due to the UK-friendly culture.

It is likely to be prudent to visit these countries before making a decision, with the start of September a good time to travel to Spain as it hosts the Autumn festival in the Andalusian town of Jerez de la Fontera between September 8th and 24th.
