2008 News Archive - Holidays - Riding high

30 11 2007

Mallorca in January offers visitors warm sunshine away from the cold winter, fine scenery, sand and sea, plus a wide variety of nightlife, restaurants and bars.

Of course, there is far more to the island than that, with those looking to enjoy some of its history and culture being able to do so on January 20th.

This date is San Sebastian Day, named after the Patron Saint of Mallorca, this being identified as the day of his death when he was martyred at the hands of the Romans.

A number of events take place to mark the occasion, with the most notable being a bike ride by hundreds of people through the streets of Palma, followed by a large fireworks display in the evening.

So for those who fancy joining in, a trip to Mallorca in January could be a case of sun, sand, sea and saddle.
