2008 News Archive - Holidays - Rocker weds in Canary Islands
22 01 2007
Former Iron Maiden singer Blaze Bayley has announced plans to marry his sweetheart in Gran Canaria.
The rock star will marry fiance Debbie on Valentine's Day on the third largest of the Canary Islands, a paradise of long white beaches and beautiful scenery.
The location of the wedding as yet remains unknown, with the prominent rocker perhaps keen to shy away from the limelight for this special day.
Visitors to any of the Canary Islands can indeed step back from the hustle and bustle of modern life, unwinding on the expansive, white beaches this archipelago is famous for.
And whether it's a last minute package holiday or an indulgent all inclusive package you're after, these beautiful islands are a must-see destination and a great location for catching some much-needed winter sun.
Gran Canaria itself boasts over 200 kilometres of beaches, allowing any couple - famous or otherwise - a chance to unwind, relax and get away from it all.
The Maspalomas beach is fringed with undulating soft sand dunes, while the coastline between Tarajalillo and Mogan in the south of the island is sheltered by mountains.
Mild temperatures, which even in the winter only dip to around 18 degrees Celsius, mean that the island is most popular for those seeking warm beach holidays.
