2008 News Archive - Holidays - Runners mighty with Aphrodite

31 10 2007

Those who feel pretty fit can enjoy something different from the normal sunshine-filled leisurely breaks that most would enjoy on a visit to Cyprus, when the Cypriot half marathon takes place on November 25th 2007.

Organised by the Cypriot Health Runners Club, the event will take the racers all around Paphos, heading in and out of the sights of the city by the sea.

For those not quite up to a half marathon, there is a shorter fun run, or of course the option of sitting it out and cheering on the competitors from the sidelines.

Set at the western end of the island, Paphos offers beaches and azure sea on its coast and a treasure trove of historic buildings and monuments inland, reflecting the varied influences on the history and culture of Cyprus that have come from numerous civilisations.

Examples of this include the Temple of Aphrodite, St Paul's Pillar and the Byzantine Castle of Paphos.
